FRANCENE FIND LOVE!!!

Yes, Francene is getting adopted. Thanks to all the wonderful care from her foster moms Kate and Nikki, Francene is finally ready to leave her nest. Sarah Parquette and her husband met Francene and completely fell in love with her. They both are runners and will take her on great run on a daily basis, which is exactly what Francene needs. She also got along great with their cats. Thank you so much to all who made this possible, specially Kate and Nikki and their two great dogs.

SPARKLY NEEDS A MIRACLE

We are in urgent need of a foster home for a declawed cat. The cat is Sparkly, boy has he been through a lot. Sparkle was first surrendered to our rescue because of allergies, the owners actually wanted to put he cat to sleep. The grandfather in the family stood up for Sparkly and contacted us.

Sparkly was very upset. He had his own room. But he was so upset. Did not eat for days and did not want to come out under the bed. Poor guy! All this did not and does not make sense. Why people do this? One day while the cleaning crew was over the Foster's mom, Sparkly got out, out in the street. We thought we lost him. After weeks, we found him. He came back and totally changed. I think he really enjoyed being out or he was so scared that he was thankful to have a safe room with food and water and a nice lady that came to be with him. He let the foster mom pet him and really would come out every time she came into the room.
The foster mom loves him but she has cats and 4 dogs and is also a senior citizen, who really needs to take her of herself and her pets. Sparkly needs a very special person who is going to give him the space and time to come out of his shell. If you know someone who adores cats and will really work with Sparkly, please contact us right away. We need to move Sparkly by the first week of August. We really need a miracle. If you know someone who has a farm and would like to have Sparkle live there, he is such a great cat and deserve a better chance at life than the one he got.

OUR SECOND ANGEL THIS YEAR

Here’s the story of how she came home……..Our dear friends, Sherrie, Steve and Erin Maze came to the office on Monday morning. Steve (a firefighter at North Ave. and Hilton) brought the dog home from work, after a concerned citizen found her on the side of the road. She had obviously been hit by a car. They took her home……and made calls all over town, and drove to all shelters, etc. No one would examine or consider doing anything except putting her down. She is 5 months old and had no other injuries. Angel appears to be a chocolate lab mix and this picture does’t really do her justice.
Anyway, with the help of Jennifer Viglucci, from Recycled Love, and the vets at Swan Harbor Animal Hospital, we were encouraged to raise what we could Monday, and bring the dog to the hospital. She went there Monday and had her leg surgery yesterday. Angel is recovering well. With the donations we had, and the help of Recycled Love, the total bill $1,500 (which included EVERYTHING) is covered.I am emailing you, not only to boast our pride, but to encourage you to consider making a donation – in any amount – to Recycled Love – a 501 C foundation. She, like many other rescue outfits, assist dogs and cats in this condition everyday and do so with the support of donors. Please make a contribution in honor of Angel to help us with dogs like her.

OUR FIRST ANGEL OF THIS YEAR

Remember our sweet pit bull Angel? Well, thanks to Christina Kim who found her the best foster home ever with Katie, she is now lounging and having a great life with her new friends.Thank you so much Katie for opening your home and hear to Angel. Katie reports that Angel is doing well and now she will star working with Trainer Aja Harrison to make her a better canine citizen. How life changes when there is love....

ANIMAL ANTI-CRUELTY TASK FORCE IS FORMED

I am happy to announce that thanks to all your persistence, letters to the Mayor and official, signatures and energy, an animal anti cruelty task force has been formed and is already at work. Recycled Love Rescues Karen Reese started this movement and took it to the level it has reached. We would like to thank Karen for all her efforts, passion, and for the fact that she moves mountains when she sets out a goal. Thank you for not giving up and opening the door for discussion and work against animals cruelty in Baltimore city.
In August they will address creating a tracking system for animal cruelty complaints as there is no system in place. Complaints come through a multitude of places including 911, 311, BARCS, SPCA. The goal is to determine the areas where the majority of the complaints are arising. The second part of the meeting will address animal control and giving them police powers. The September meeting will be open to the public and the press. This meeting will not be at city hall. It will be at a school and the public will be allowed to speak. We will inform you on date, place and location if you with to attend.
Recycled Love has been invited to sit on this task force. Randee Asking and Karen Reese will share a sit. We will update you on the meetings and progress of this group.

ON AIR

Emily Bishop, one of our great volunteers and advocate of Pit bull rights, was able to get on air at a sport radio show that talked about Michael Vick and if he should play again. Emily decided to call in after she kept hearing people say that Vick really did not do anything wrong. Way to go Emily and thank you for speaking from your heart!!!Please listen to the show http://cstvpodcast.cstv.com.edgesuite.net/wjfk/072209_ShouldVickPlayAgain_seg9.mp3

THANK YOU PRIVE

Contact her at fieryredhead5@yahoo.com

I would like to thank everyone who makes all of this possible. Have a wonderful summer and hug your furry friend, always!!!

This Week's Update: June 24, 2008

Dear friends,

I want to thank all of you for being so wonderful and supportive of this rescue. Every time we send out a plea for help, you are there to help us. I really want you to know that this rescue is not possible without your dedication and help. Thank you so much for believing in our efforts and helping every step of the way.

UPDATE ON FRANCENE

Francene is recovering wonderfully, thanks to the great love and efforts of her foster moms Kate and Nikki. We also want to thank Dr. Bonner from swan Harbor Animal Hospital for her wonderful work in taking care of Francene's surgery and after care.Kate reports that Francene is more active now and she is also a real character. She is always bumping her head with stuff and tripping over things. She is a real cluts!Francene loves her dog companions and is always in good spirit. Kate is no longer using the feeding tube on her. Her mouth is recovering fairly well. Still there is a lot of care and weekly vet visits until she heals completely. If you would like to make a special donation to help with Francene's care, please visit our website. Your donation would be greatly appreciated it.One could not imagine how this dog survived two gun shot wounds in the face. She still wags her tail and is ready to please. Amazing spirit!Thank you Kate and Niki for your kindness and hard work with Francene. Thank you so much Dr. Bonner for your knowledge and care for these great beings.

UPDATE ON STARLING

Tom Soul and Kathy Homan who took in Starling, the pitiful looking puppy that has mange, report that the little one is doing every day better and better. She still sleeps a lot but is eating well and getting some nice daily walks and lots of TLC from her foster parents. Starling got her first bath and she looked like a pluck chicken, reports Kathy. She is very much loved and we are so grateful that people like Tom and Kathy exist in this world.Starling still has a long way until she fully recovers, but she is in good hands and getting plenty of kisses!!If you would like to donate some items for Starling, please contact me asap. Foster parents could use a dog bed for her, some blankets and we puppy food Verus brand.Thank you so very much for your kindness and help.

PHOENIX

I would like to thank each and everyone of you who donated money, time and wrote letters and signed petitions to help stop cruel acts of violence, like the one committed upon Phoenix. Recycled Love gathered about 1,300 signatures and the petition that went around was sent to both the Mayor's office and the States Attorney's office.I really want to thank you for speaking in behalf of the ones that have no voice. Thank you!

Two juveniles were taken into custody but there is still no word on the outcome of this case. We will keep you posted.Unfortunately, cases like Phoenix's are common in Baltimore city. Our youth is committing horrible crimes and we all need to start paying attention on ways we can help change some of this.It is only a dream right now but good things start this way. I would like one day for Recycled Love to have a place where children and young adults from poor neighborhoods could come to learn how to take care of a living creature. Learn how to take care of something. Have a place to come, over and over to take care of an animal. With guidance and help. At the same time animals would get socialization and care. Even if it is just one or two kids that can be reached, it makes a difference. We want to see the kids that do care, the kids that do make a difference, these are the ones that should be on the news. One day, hopefully we can make a program like this happen.

UPDATE ON ANGEL

Sweet Angel is finally in an incredible foster home. Thanks to Christina Kim who took her in and looked everywhere for a foster mom. MALEA AND ROSCOE ARE LOOKING FOR FOSTER HOMES. CAN YOU HELP?

Malea, one of the best dogs ever, was adopted out by a nice lady and her son and has been returned back to the rescue, through no fault of her own. The lady realised she really does not have time for a young dog. Malea is an amazing dog. She is about 45 lbs, adores other dogs, great with cats, love people. She is also high energy and would do best in a home with other dogs that she can play with or with someone that is dedicated to exercising her on a daily basis. She is about a year old, Retriever/pit bull mix. If you know anybody who is looking to help foster a dog and you think this could work, please contact me asap. Malea is currently at Wagtime dogie daycare in DC. Roscoe is also looking for a foster home. He is currently at Charm City doggie daycare in Baltimore. Roscoe is experiencing some trauma in his life right now. His loving parent are going through the loss of their own child. Emily, their 16 year old daughter, was in a car accident and ended up in a coma. Emily just passed away.Roscoe is not handling this very well. We had to help the family by taking him out since they could not handle the responsibility right now of taking care of him. We are looking for a temporary foster home for Roscoe, where he can get much needed TLC and exercise on a daily basis. We are not sure if the family will take Roscoe back but if not we will work on finding him a forever home.If you know someone who could provide a loving home for Roscoe on a foster basis. Please contact us asap. He is 3 years old, Poodle/ Lapha apso mix. He is also an escape artist and cannot be left outside unattended. He loves his walks! Thank you so much again for all the great lives that our volunteers help change. I know there has been some negative comments on our blog. I hope that people who are writting these get some better information on all the work that this rescue does. I am sorry that no every one likes us. We try to do the best we can. I know we can improve and this is the goal.
